“THE ROADS” (“CAMINOS”), 2018
A bilingual poetry collection “CAMINOS” by Daria Rusakova was published in 2018 in Moscow, in Spanish and Russian. The book was presented at the Chartrandt Gallery in Matanzas, Cuba, as part of Daria’s curatorial project “Hermanas” (“Sisters”), where the artworks by contemporary Russian and Cuban artists were presented. An autograph session was held in Havana, at the Memories Miramar Hotel.
“The Roads / Caminos” is a unique art object in which the word and the painting go hand by hand, following one road. A bilingual poetic experiment combines two cultures – the traditions of the Russian “Silver Age” in a new interpretation and the ancient Afro-Caribbean traditions; Russian snow covered landscapes and the labyrinths of Havana streets; deep lyricism and primitive passion. The collection is illustrated by conceptual artworks of contemporary avant-garde artists of Russia and Cuba.
“I was travelling a lot. There are continents, countries and cities which impressed me and aroused in me very strong emotions. I fell in love with them. So, each poem is a synthesis of love and travel lyrics, a declaration of love to different cities of the World”.
“For me “Caminos” is not only the literary work, but also the curatorial project. On the one hand, each poem is illustrated by the famous Cuban artist Karina Alonso, on the other hand, it includes the paintings from our international exhibition “Hermanas” and the quotation of each artist”.
